I’m Norman. I started Something Is Better Than Nothing because I learned, the hard way, that small actions — done quietly, every day — compound into something you didn’t think was possible.

I spent six and a half years in prison. That sentence is hard to write. But it’s the truest thing about where this brand was born.

Inside, I had two choices: let the circumstances define me, or decide I was going to build the version of myself I actually wanted to be. I chose to build. Fitness became the foundation. Not because I was trying to get big, but because it was the one thing completely in my control. Every rep, every set, every early morning was proof that I could show up for myself — even when the world had written me off.

What I learned in those years no one talks about enough: you don’t need the perfect plan. You don’t need the perfect conditions. You just need to start.

One pushup is better than zero. A ten-minute walk is better than sitting still. A small step forward is still a step forward — and those steps add up to a life you’re proud of.

When I got out, I saw what those quiet actions had compounded into. The discipline. The resilience. The belief that change is possible. And then I started watching it ripple — friends, family, people I barely knew, taking smaller actions, building consistency, showing up for themselves. Watching that catch was the real spark for this brand. I wanted something to give it a shape.
